TOPIC: "BAPTISM"

Question: If there is one baptism as in Ephesians 4:5, which baptism is the one?

Today : Is it necessary or right to do something the Lord doesn't want done?

Reference: We at Grace Bible Study only use the King James Bible.

I. As the Bible is read we can find at least 7 baptisms.

A. Acts 2:38---Acts 10:47 Water

B. I Corinthians 10:l-2 Cloud

C. I Corinthians 10:2 Sea

D. Acts 2:3-4 Fire

E. Acts 2:3-4---Matthew 3:11 (with) Holy Ghost

F. Luke 12:50---Colossians 2:12 Death

G. I Corinthians 12:13 (By) One spirit

NOTE: There is no reference to the baptism "of" the Holy Ghost.

II. To find the one baptism refered to by our Apostle Paul- Ephesians 4:5-we will begin a process of elimination.

A. I Corinthians 10:l-2---(I) Cloud, (2) Sea

These happened t.o Israel in the past when they were led out of Egypt in the Exodus.

B. Acts 2:3 (3) Fire "like as of" cloven tongues-I Corinthians 14:22 a sign

I Corinthians 1:22 Jews require a sign

C. Acts 2:4 (4) Holy Ghost "with"

This gave them power to speak in other tongues without interpretors.

NOTE: Other tongues--NOT unknown tongues

Acts 2:7-8 His Own Tongue

I Corinthians 14:27 Unknown tongues have to interpreted.

But there would still be a sign required by Jews.

D. Luke 12:50 (5) Death This is the Lords death and we have been made partakers of this already.

Galatians 2: 20 Crucified with Christ

Romans 6:4-6 Buried with Him, because we were crucified with Him

E. Acts 2:38 (6) Water This is a baptism of repentance.

It refers to Israel as in:

1. Acts 2:22-23 Rejection and murder of their (lsraels) King

2. Mark 16:16 refers to their salvation .

3. Acts 8:36-37 Witnesses their belief ttat Jesus Christ is the Son of God

NOTE: Acts 2:36 Jesus--Lord and Christ

4. Saves the Israelite believers from the old apostate

nation of Israel that was fallen--Romans 11 : l l

5. Acts 2:38 Gives the Israelite believers remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Ghost

III. With the elimination of 6 baptisms, Ephesians 4:5 says "one", we are left with one.

A. I Corinthians 12:13 By One Spirit

B. This baptism places us into One Body

1.Who is us? Romans 3:22 Those that Believe

Romans 5:17 Those that Receive

BELIEVE---I Corinthians 15:l-4 The Gospel of Christ

RECEIVE---Romans 4:25 The Work of God

II Corinthians 5:21 The Work of God

Ephesians 1:13--HEAR the Gospel of your Salvation

BELIEVE and TRUST (WHAT?)

Ephesians 1 :13-14 Sealed with that Holy Spirit of Promise "the earnest" of our inheritance

YES, THERE IS ONE BAPTISM. BY ONE SPIRIT ARE WE ALL BAPTIZED

INTO ONE BODY. BELIEVE AND IT IS YOURS
